CORDLESS PHONES, ANSWERING MACHINES & ITEMS REQUIRING AN ESTIMATE

Our repair service for cordless phones and answering machines differs from that of regular business phones with respect to pricing and warranty. READ THIS BEFORE YOU SEND US YOUR CORDLESS PHONE, ANSWERING MACHINE, or any piece of equipment requiring an estimate!
 

CORDLESS PHONES

NOTE: DO NOT SEND US YOUR CORDLESS PHONE IF IT IS EXHIBITING THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS:
Range problem ~ Intermittent problem ~ Handset LCD backlight flashes on & off and phone does not operate.

All other problems are OK and we will be glad to handle them, including totally dead, bad buttons, bad display, etc.

However, you MUST describe the symptoms/defects in detail. It's also a good idea to tell what you've already done to fix the problem, if anything.

   
  1. There is a non-refundable $25.00 bench fee for cordless phone repairs. Payment must be included with your order. This money will be applied to the final repair bill if we repair your equipment.. If we are unable to repair your equipment for any reason, this money will go towards return ground shipping as well as labor/administrative costs associated with handling your order. Be sure to include a check for $25.00 made out to "Preferred Telecomm". If a check is not included and we have to call you, it will only serve to delay the repair of your equipment.
     
  2. You MUST include all parts and accessories, including the charger, base, power supply, and manual if you still have it. For Transtalk cordless phones you MUST include the radio & power supply, as well as charger with power supply, handset and batteries. If you are using a "radio module carrier" and cannot remove the power supply, please note this on your packing list.
     
  3. You MUST describe the symptoms/defects in detail. It's also a good idea to tell what you've already done to fix the problem, if anything.
     
  4. Please don't ask us to "test and let me know what the problem is before repairing." Once we start working on your phone, we attempt to complete it. Asking a tech to stop and then re-familiarize himself with your equipment at some later date will only delay  repair.
     
  5. If you send in multiple handsets with a base unit:
     
    1. We charge $15.00 to test and check extra handsets. If defective, we automatically repair without calling you for approval, but the $15 test fee will be included in the repair price.
       
    2. If you send in more than one handset and it is determined that only one of the handsets is defective, you will still be charged the full repair price (base +one handset) as well as the test fee for the extra handset..
       
  6. Turnaround for cordless phones is 4-6 weeks.
     
  7. The warranty for cordless phone repairs is 90 days and covers our parts and workmanship only.
     
  8. We do not return defective parts that we replace.

ANSWERING MACHINES

  2. You MUST include all parts and accessories, including tapes, the power supply, and the manual if you still have it. If everything we need is not included and we have to call you, it will only serve to delay the repair of your equipment.
     
  3. You MUST describe the symptoms/defects in detail. It is also important for us to know if the problem is delayed and if it is intermittent. It's also a good idea to tell what you've already done to fix the problem, if anything.
     
  4. Please don't ask us to "test and let me know what the problem is before repairing." Once we start working on your answering machine, we attempt to complete it. Asking a tech to stop and then re-familiarize himself with your equipment at some later date will only delay  repair.

ITEMS REQUIRING AN ESTIMATE

If your equipment isn't listed in our repair price list, there's still a good chance we can repair it.  Call us or use our inquiry form. However, please don't send equipment not listed in our price list without first inquiring.

If you've already inquired and have been referred to this page, this means that we must see your equipment before we can give you an estimate. Please follow these directions:

  2. On your packing list print in big letters "PLEASE CALL WITH REPAIR PRICE BEFORE REPAIRING". We will contact you and get approval before proceeding with repair.
     
  3. You MUST include all parts and accessories needed to make your equipment run, such as a power supply if it's supposed to have one.
     
  4. You MUST describe the symptoms/defects in detail. It is also important for us to know if the problem is delayed and if it is intermittent. It's also a good idea to tell what you've already done to fix the problem, if anything.
     
  5. Turnaround for equipment requiring an estimate runs 2-4 weeks.
     
  6. We do not return defective parts that we replace.

SHIPPING INSTRUCTIONS

bulletStep 1     Pack your phones (a used box is OK) and pad them with crumpled newspaper.
 
bulletStep 2    Include a packing list (handwritten is fine) with your name, address, phone number, and a list of what you're sending so we can notify you of any discrepancies. Also, if possible, please include a description of the problem, and whether it's intermittent or delayed. If you're sending a cordless phone, an answering machine, or you need an estimate, be sure to include a check for $25.00.
